Filmfare Awards 2023: The Filmfare Awards are one of the most prestigious cinematic events dedicated to the Hindi film industry. The awards were first presented in 1954.
The 68th Hyundai Filmfare Awards were held on April 28 at the Jio Convention Centre in BKC. The award show was hosted by Salman Khan, Maniesh Paul, and Ayushmann Khurrana. The latest event saw many young artists fulfilling their dreams of winning the iconic Black Lady.
The magnificent evening began with Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Rekha, Janhvi Kapoor, Nora Fatehi, Vicky Kaushal, and others on the red carpet. Salman Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Maniesh Paul hosted the event. The electrifying dance performances by Vicky Kaushal, Tiger Shroff, Janhvi Kapoor, and Jacqueline Fernandez were the night’s main attraction.
Alia Bhatt won the award for Best Actress (Female) and her film Gangubai Kathiawadi was awarded Best Film. Sanjay Leela Bhansali won Best Director, completing the sweep.
Bhumi Pednekar, Rajkummar Rao, and Sheeba Chaddha won the Critics’ choice awards for Badhaai Do, and the social comedy-drama received the award for Best Film (critics Choice).
While Kartik Aaryan did not receive an award for his critically acclaimed film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, directed by Anees Bazmee, Tabu received the award for Best Actress (Critics’ Choice). What came as a nice surprise was Sanjay Mishra’s triumph for Best Actor (Critics’ Choice) for his critically praised film Vadh, which also starred Neena Gupta.
Brahmastra was a big box office success, yet it did not win any major awards. However, it did win the best music album award, while Amitabh Bhattacharya won the best lyrics honors for the film’s iconic song “Kesariya” and Arijit Singh won the best playback singer (male) for the same song.
Prem Chopra, a veteran actor, won the Lifetime Achievement Award. Jhund actor Ankush Gedam got the Best Debut (Male) award. Andrea Kevichusa, an Anek actor, got the Best Debut (Female) Award.
