1. Code Name: Tiranga (IMDb – 1.8)

Code Name: Tiranga is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language spy action drama film written and directed by Ribhu Dasgupta. The film is jointly produced by T-Series, Reliance Entertainment, and Film Hangar. It stars Parineeti Chopra, Harrdy Sandhu and Sharad Kelkar. The film was released on 14 October 2022 and received mostly negative reviews from critics.

A RAW agent is on a journey across many countries. As a spy, she is on an unfaltering and fearless mission for her nation in a race against time where sacrifice is her only choice.

The film’s pre-production began around December 2020. It was announced, that Parineeti Chopra would play an undercover RAW agent in Ribhu Dasgupta’s next. It is her second collaboration with Dasgupta’s post The Girl on the Train.

The songs for the film are composed by Jaidev Kumar & Vipin Patwa and the lyrics are penned by Kumaar, while a few lines of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s Vande Mataram have been borrowed for a song of the same name. Background music score composed by Gilad Benamram.

2. Nikamma (IMDb- 2.6)

Nikamma is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language action comedy film directed by Sabbir Khan. It is a remake of the 2017 Telugu film Middle-Class Abbayi and stars Abhimanyu Dassani, Shirley Setia, and Shilpa Shetty. Nikamma was released theatrically on 17 June 2022 and received overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics and audiences. The film was also a box-office bomb.

The movie feels way too lengthy for its runtime. The story takes a very long to come to its central issue which also seems dated. The film picks up pace at times but loses steam very quickly. One of the film’s weakest points is its story (Venu Sriram), followed by editing and direction. This remake falters at way too many places and defies common sense and logic at regular intervals.

Without giving away the finer details of the narrative, it suffices to say that the characters and their journeys have not been crafted thoughtfully, although there was ample room to do that. We’ve seen films where a young hero is someone without a purpose in life, and he eventually comes of age and finds his way. Some of these characters, and subsequently, the films have charmed their way into the audience’s hearts but sadly, that doesn’t happen here – largely because the writing is weak.

Rashtra Kavach Om is a 2022 Indian action film directed by Kapil Verma and produced by Zee Studios and Ahmed Khan. It stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjana Sanghi, Jackie Shroff, Ashutosh Rana, Prakash Raj and Prachee Shah Paandya. The film was released in theatre on 1 July 2022 and on ZEE5 on 11 August 2022.

Liger is a 2022 Indian sports action film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages, the film is produced by Dharma Productions and Puri Connects. Vijay Deverakonda stars as the titular MMA fighter alongside Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishna, and Ronit Roy in pivotal roles. American boxer Mike Tyson plays an extended cameo.

The film was announced in 2019, and the title Liger was announced in January 2021. Liger marks the debut of Deverakonda in Hindi cinema and Panday in Telugu cinema. The songs are composed by Tanishk Bagchi and Vikram Montrose. Principal photography began in January 2020 and suffered production delays after March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dhaakad is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language action film directed by Rajneesh Ghai. It stars Kangana Ranaut, Arjun Rampal, Divya Dutta, and Saswata Chatterjee.

As the title suggests, ‘Jahaan Chaar Yaar’ is about four friends, and when they get together, we can expect a lot of fun. But, unfortunately, the film contains a lot of drama that only vaguely discusses how important it is for women to have their own identities and voices.

Spread over 125 minutes of run time, the film sets up the story of four women who decide to live a bit more independently for a few days in order to break free from the monotonous cycle of being middle-class housewives. The story starts on an interesting note and is funny in parts, but it ends up being a dull film to watch.

Dobaaraa is an official remake of the 2018 Spanish film Mirage. It opened the London Indian Film Festival 2022 and was theatrically released on 19 August 2022 and opened to generally positive reviews from critics. However, the film was a box office bomb.

This story relates a woman who gets an opportunity to save the life of a 12-year-old boy, who witnessed a death during a thunderstorm that happened 25 years ago, by getting connected through the television set during a similar storm in the present.
